This was the first little town founded in 1086 during the Northern Song Dynasty (1127-1279). It is only 30 km from Suzhou. Tongli Town is an other city on the water built in the architectural styles of the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing Dynasties (1644-1911). It is only 20 km from the city of Suzhou. There are 20 bridges and 15 crisscrossing canals, the street are narrow and simple but at the same time elegant. Shops and tea houses line one after an other making you feel as you were in ancient China.
