It is the capital of Zhejiang province and it is rich in natural scenic spots such as the West Lake, the Fuchun-Xi'an River and the Thousand Isles Lake as well as Mount Tianmu, the Qiantang Rivr and the Grand Canal. Famous handicrafts of Hangzhou are fans, silk umbrellas, lotus root starch and water shield.

On the west part of Hangzhou city, it is surrounded by mountains on three sides. It also has three islands in it and covers an area of 5,6 square km. It is very also famous in Chinese Literature for the romantic legend of "The white snake".

Situate on Mount Yuelung, on the northern bank of the Qiantang River, it was firstly built in 970 during the Song Dynasty (960-1279). The 13-stories pagoda that we can admire today wa rebuilt in bricks in 1153.

This particularly good kind of green tea is grown in the mountains around Hangzhou. The Longjin Tea ( Longjin means the "well of the dragon") has a long history of about 1,200 years. It is one of the best chinese green tea, with a fresh taste.
