The biggest square in China, with a total area of 440,000 square meters, it is also the center of the city of Beijing. Its name literally means "Heavenly Peace Gate". It is surrounded by the Tian'an Gate which leads into the Forbidden City (North), the Museum of Chinese History (East), the Qian men Gate (South) and the Great Hall of the People (West). Inside this enormous square, there are also some monuments, such as the 36 meters obelisk, made of Qingdao granite, the Monument to the People' s Heroes and the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall.
